Después de la capa base con pintura acrílica Tamiya he trabajado los desgastes con algunos óleos Abteilung y a continuación los desconchones en dos fases (una primera con colores claros y otra con oscuros) con acrílicos de Vallejo.

After the layer base with Tamiya acrylic paints I have worked the weathering with some Abteilung oil paints and then I make some chips in two phases (first with light colors and after with dark) with Vallejo acrylic paints.

CENTURION AVR MK2

A partir de las fotos de este modelo en un museo, Alessandro y Vincenzo han reproducido con todo detalle el estado de abandono de su pintura, desconchones, arañazos, óxido,... todo sobre un color claro típico.

RESTORATION (GMC + DUKW)

He tenido el placer de ver esta magnifica obra al natural y os puedo garantizar que es digna de mención. En este gran diorama, de nuevo Alessandro y Vincenzo se han superado eligiendo un par de vehículos típicamente militares y canibalizándolos al máximo para su uso civil. En los alrededores un desvencijado taller hecho de madera y chapa de diversa procedencia hacen que en su pintura se puedan emplear las últimas técnicas con unos resultados realmente increíbles. Tampoco os perdáis el trabajo sobre el terreno.

I had the pleasure of seeing this magnificent work at live and I can guarantee that it is worth mentioning. In this large diorama, again Alessandro and Vincenzo have been overcome by choosing a pair of typically military vehicles and cannibalized best to civilian use. Around a old garage made of wood and steel sheet from different places make that in his paint can use the latest techniques with some truly amazing results. Great job with the grounddwork.

TWISTED FATE (CATERPILLAR D7 + Pz.Kpfw. IV)

Por último Rick Lawler, un gran modelista norteamericano, nos muestra en una pequeña viñeta un gran trabajo de pintura y sobre todo de soldadura, con los restos de un Panzer IV que están siendo arrastrados por un pequeño Caterpillar. Gran trabajo también sobre el terreno.

Finally Rick Lawler shows in a small vignette a great job of painting and welding especially with the remains of a Panzer IV being dragged by a small Caterpillar. Great job also on the grounddwork.

Al final se incluye un Galería de trabajos con algunos bastante interesantes. En definitiva, un libro que puede que os haga disfrutar como a mi, y si no juzgad vosotros mismos con estas fotos.

Como veis la base ya esta casi terminada, el vehículo está en fase de pintura y tengo un par de figuras montadas. He estado probando un producto de Vallejo (ref. 26.230) para imitar agua con muy buen resultado.

As you can see base is almost finished, the vehicle is in painting process and I have a couple of assemble figures. I've been testing a product of Vallejo (ref. 26 230) to create water with very good results.

Sherman M4A3 105mm - El escenario II

En estas 3 fotografías se resume el paso a paso que sigo normalmente  para pintar una fachada.

In these 3 photos is summarized step by step I'm usually paint a ruin.

Paso 1: Fachada terminada, tratándose de estos materiales más bien rugosos (corcho, cartón,...) no es necesario imprimar salvo por los restos de adhesivo que puedan quedar. En mi caso la capa base gris hizo de imprimación.

Step 1: Ruin finished, in the case of these rather rough materials (cork, cardboard ,...) is not necessary primer except for any excess adhesive that might remain. In my case the base coat of primer was the gray color of the ruin.

Paso 2: Después de la capa base gris (sirve cualquiera mientras sea algo claro) dada con aerógrafo, se pintan todos los detalles en plano. Para ello utilizo de modo aleatorio sintéticos y acrílicos.

Step 2: After that gray base coat was airbrushed, (any light gray is valid) were painted all the details with plain colours. For this, I use synthetic or acrylic paints.

Paso 3: El envejecimiento se puede realizar también con cualquier medio. En este caso he usado los nuevos productos de AK.

Russian Oficer - The Body

A pesar de que la escultura podría mejorarse, en mi opinión, lo mejor de esta figura a escala 1:35 dedicada a un oficial ruso es precisamente su gesto y su pose.

La base esta pintada con aerógrafo y los retoques a pincel. Esta técnica, ampliamente difundida por Julio Cabos, hace que sea casi imposible equivocarse con la distribución de luces y sombras sobre nuestra figura además de ahorrar un valiosísimo tiempo.

Although the sculpture could be improved, in my opinion, the best of this 1:35 scale figure dedicated to a Russian officer is in fact his gesture and pose.

The base is painted with an airbrush and finally with brush. This technique, widely used by Julio Cabos, makes it almost impossible to go wrong with the distribution of lights and shadows on our figure as well as save valuable time.

Continuando con el trabajo sobre este carro, mientras ultimo algunos detalles sobre el casco y monto las cadenas y boggies, he construido un pequeño escenario que representará las ruinas de un pequeño templo o iglesia, quizá en Alemania a finales de guerra. Para dar algo de relevancia a la construcción me he valido de un par de alturas, la superior para la fachada y la inferior para la calle por donde transita este mastodonte al que seguiran un par de soldados americanos.

Intentando ser un poco didáctico he trabajado con una gama de materiales lo más amplia posible para la construcción. Entre ellos se encuentra el corcho, el cartón pluma, la escayola y un pequeño remate de resina. La base es de foam e inicialmente para hacerme una idea de los volumenes y alturas me he servido de un par de trozos de corcho blanco. Una vez decidida la distribución es hora de pasar a la acción.

Llega la Shermania

Pues eso, en un periodo breve de tiempo ya es mi segundo Sherman (empiezo a estar preocupado!) así que habrá que preparar algo para desintoxicar, quizá un Pz.IV, un Stug III, quien sabe.

Mientras tanto este es el 105mm que estoy montando para el Panzergruppe de Panzernet, idea realmente genial si uno se sube al tren y cumple en tanto que en un espacio relativamente corto de tiempo se acaba una maqueta, y a veces hasta se tiene premio. Desde aquí os animo a todos a participar.

Test productos AK Interactive

He recibido algunos de los nuevos productos distribuidos por AK Interactive. Este prometedor fabricante con la clara finalidad de hacernos la vida más fácil a la hora de envejecer, o más bien, ambientar nuestros modelos, esta investigando en esta linea.

Por supuesto podemos conseguir estos mismos objetivos con otros productos, siempre es así, solo que en este caso alguien se ha preocupado de conseguir esos tonos terrosos para que directamente usados del bote o mezclados con escayola den como resultado la textura y color propios del polvo, la tierra y el barro. Realmente la técnica no ha variado, tan solo varían los medios.

Utilizando unos restos de blindaje lateral pintados con las nuevas imprimaciones de Vallejo con color, he realizado unas pruebas con algunos de los nuevos productos de AK. Para mi los resultados son altamente satisfactorios.

Novedad TOTAL WAR MINIATURES

Hace unos meses, mi buen amigo Manel Arin se lanzo a la gran aventura del modelismo profesional y fundo la marca Total War Miniatures para comercializar sus propias figuras, en un principio a escala 1:48, aunque ahora esta haciendo algunas en otras escalas.

La figura que acabo de pintar es la referencia TWM35001 y representa a un carrista alemán con traje de invierno, es decir, pantalón y parka reversibles. Se incluyen dos cabezas, una con gorra y otra con un vendaje, y esta en posición sentada. El modelado es muy bueno y su posición la hace muy versátil.

A few months ago, my friend Manel Arin was released to the great adventure of the professional model and founded Total War Miniatures mark to market their own figures, at first at 1:48, but is now making some other stops.
